Plan your
hard week
By Ben Jonas Goedeke · 3 min read · checked against its sources
The hard week rarely arrives as a surprise. Tideline shows roughly when it starts, so you can plan for it while you still feel well.
Move what can move
Look at the week before your next period. Pick one thing that could happen a few days later instead: a deadline, a difficult conversation, a big social plan. One is enough.
Stock up now
Easy meals in the freezer, snacks that are not only sugar, the things you always run out of. Smaller meals through the day can help, and so can going easier on caffeine, salt and sugar in those weeks.
Protect your sleep
Plan early nights ahead of time. Too little sleep makes moodiness worse, and those are the nights that need it most.
Tell someone
Let the people close to you know the dates. "Next week is a hard one" is a whole sentence. It turns a sudden bad mood into something everyone saw coming.
Keep the record your doctor needs. Tideline is a period and mood tracker for iPhone: write one sentence a day, and after two cycles it puts the week before your period next to the week after it starts. Free to track, no account.
